Sorry that this isnt the ideal forum for this question, but I couldnt see a better option.

I've had some alloy wheels turned to scrap by a wheel refurbing company.
Would they get a discount at a main dealer on acount of it being a 'trade buy' if they bought new wheels?

It depends....

Normally about 10% but some bits less and some bits more, varies between brands too.

I think the last time we bought a wheel from Mercedes we only got 5% off the RRP.

They might, they might not.

If it's the only time they've ever bought anything, or are likely to, from that dealer, then they'll probably be treated the same as if Joe Public walks in.

Thanks for the speedy replies.
Any discount helps I suppose.
I had no idea how often wheel refurbers would need to buy new wheels from dealers, either as an additional wheel for a replacement after a crash etc or to replace a customers wheels that had been damaged during refurbishment.

I'm trade & buy items for use in my business - mostly trim & fixing brackets which are dealer only items - from several local franchised dealers
Discount varies between 5% & 10% depending on which dealer.

5-10% off five new wheels still adds up smile

just go round the dealers, BMW dealers get 30% off, eventually you'll find one that will do more, especially near the end of the month.

Trade account customers normally get 5-10% of retail on stock parts or on stock order which can be 3 days to a week, but on V.O.R. parts generally no discount.

New OE alloys can be well into 4 figures each new. If they were cheap to buy nobody would refurb them.

When I was in main dealer parts about the only time we sold new alloys was for insurance repair jobs or upgrades on new car sales.

Very, very few were sold to either trade or retail customers.

I'd imagine the refurbers will be looking for a half decent second hand set and then refurbing them.

After all that ~ a refurbed used set, is presumably, what you would have ended up with had they not wrecked them.

The make and model isnt important.
I simply wanted the best outcome for me as a customer and thought that if the wheel refurbers got a discount at a main dealer it would help.
