Curious to know really. Always seems to be some kind of sale online. They must be doing beyond well if they can do that all the time!

They always did a lot of sales, but started the perma-sales trend, like sofa stores, about 2 or 3 years ago.

If you catch them at the right time, they are proper cheap, especially if you factor in their free delivery and the saving on your petrol / wear and tear.

Quite often the "sale" items are more expensive than they were the week before!

Never worked out how. I regularly get a few 5l bottles of screen wash, with free shipping, for a few quid each.

They then send them 1 or 2 per parcel (so 2 separate parcels) and deliver a day or two later. How they make money I don't know...

A lot of the time it seems to be a nominal 15%, but if you catch it right they do have 80-90% off things!! I tend to use voucher codes a lot now

With their 33% off the alternator I need is £200 more than the best price on the net and £100 more than the second most expensive, the main agent list price is less.

It does backfire sometimes. When I wanted a battery last year, because they were doing deep discounts at the weekend, the "normal" prices were quite high - £89 vs. £52 at Halfords, with a trade card at Halfords dropping it even further. Even with the ECP discount at the time, it was still higher than Halfords standard price. But then sometimes it's very cheap indeed.

Do you find the discount codes online too?

Always worth a look.

I guess it makes up for their in-store service though which for me has been pretty poor. My local branch is understaffed and whatever staff they do have take flippin ages to process a sale and bring parts out to the customer.

No their sales are very special, they only have them at the start of the month, and the end of the month, and some times if your lucky the middle of the month.

Plus weekends, Christmas, Easter, Spring, summer etc etc.....

This. I was looking for some oil the other week, a few days later they had a 30% "sale" and had hiked the price up to negate the discount.

I tend to never use ECP as prices are often increased then the codes bring it back to normal price & this was confirmed by someone working at a store.

I was going to say the same thing. Whenever I've checked, carparts4less standard price is within pennies of the best voucher code offer at ECP. In other words, CP4L gives you the voucher code price at ECP without having to muck around with voucher codes.

I ordered some service parts for a mate's 320d a couple of weeks ago. The oil filter was £11.04 on CP4L, vs £16.49 on ECP. But when you put the current voucher code into ECP, the oil filter miraculously dropped to £11.05! The penny difference is clearly not a coincidence. But then you can add a separate code on the CP4L site to take it down to £9.72.

A variation of nearly £7 for the same part, with the same part number from the same company. But as a rule of thumb, start at CP4L and then apply any vouchers for them that you can find. The only downside is you have to get it delivered (free) - there is no click and collect option.

Car Parts 4 Less is their sister company

I always look the part up on ECP then on CP4L, typically it's a 3rd cheaper on the latter

Yes, often worth doing. And sometimes you have to copy the SKU from the Euro site to CP4L as they don't come up quite the same way. Didn't fancy it for a battery in my case, as I didn't want to have to send it back if there was anything wrong in the warranty.

The benefit I find of ECP + ~30% discount over CP4less is that returns can be done over the counter.

I'm having a replacement windscreen fitted on Thursday so planned to get some new wipers.

A front set of Bosch A864S wiper blades are £47.99 on ECP.
With the most recent discount code from their £5m Clearance Sale email I got this morning they are £32.15.

eBay are £18.94
Amazon are £23.70.

I don't think I've ever managed to find anything on ECP thats cheaper than elsewhere. Although sometimes the convenience of them being local and being able to collect within an hour is helpful.

It's a shame the old fashioned motor factors have dissapeared, although that I suppose is due to ECP etc.

My dad used to run a few Motor Factors down Hampshire way, workshop fully stocked with all sorts of obscure parts that you probably couldn't get hold of these days.

The online price is always far cheaper than the instore price, I asked the guy at the desk once why he wanted to charge me £20 more for a battery because I was standing in front of him than I could have got it delivered. He just shrugged saying that they have to sell for cheaper online in order to compete, which I guess means they make more profit from counter sales.

Either way, I walked out, ordered it on my phone as click and collect. Ten minutes after nosing around a a GT86 in the Toyota garage next door I had a call saying my order was ready for pickup and i paid the online price to the same bloke who tried to serve me first time round.

This is how to do it.
