VW Scirocco 2.0 GT TSI 2008
Discussion
Hi, I'm having an annoying issue with my car.
VW Scirocco 2.0 GT TSI 200ps 2008
Majority of the time the car seems fine. But randomly, and sometimes after a long drive when the engine has been running for over two hours it starts to rev intermittently. Going from 700rpm to 900 back down to 700 and running rough. And like this morning the day after a long drive it wouldnt start, like it was running too rich. Then after a few attempts it started and ran very rough so i turned it off and then turned it on after 10 mins and revved it up to 4krpm and then its been fine all day since. I used carista to check generic fault code and it came up with p2119.
I had this issue before and decided to just change throttle body and it seemed to solve the problem for a while until today. I have a few ideas what it might be, but i was hoping someone else has had the same or very similar issue to help me.
What i think it might be, throttle pedeal position sensor, idle control valve, throttle body(again), Vacum leak somewhere, the PVC valve.
Thanks, Will

Hunting at idle could just mean the engine is out of tune, but for the idle speed to hang up too suggests the idle air control valve is not working correctly. It's quite common for them to get clogged up with dirt - if not that, check for a wiring fault.
Thanks for the reply, i think I will have a look at the idle air control valve first, could you show me what it looks like, im having trouble finding it on google.Gassing Station | Home Mechanics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
