I'm trying to add some to my tool collection, but I don't know what they're called and I've been headbutting google images for too long trying to find out!

Basically looking for some sockets that rather than having a 'square' drive for a ratchet, they have a hex head on them for using a spanner or ratchet spanner. I've done a few jobs over the years that have fallen just between access with a flat spanner and access with a ratchet, and I think a set of these would be useful to have.

Any ideas?

Seen that type of head on spark plug sockets but not on anything else.
Have a look through the Snap-on catalogue. If there is any call for them then likely Snap-on would sell them.
Have fun!

Halfords do a low profile socket set, slightly different from what you're describing.

Also found these, unfortunately in Canada....

Yup they'll do nicely, thanks guys. My searching always hit the same sparkplug socket dead end which is pretty limited in sizes.

the pass through/go through sockets is the term I should have been searching for. These look pretty good actually for more applications than I first thought, can use them for winding a nut onto a really long stud as well as the aforementioned access issues.

They look like a variation of a box spanner.
