Hi,

I need to get a sensor switch at short notice for one of my cars.

ECP show Facet as a brand which is shown as the correct spec, but I am not familiar with Facet parts. Google suggests they are an Italian brand but I cannot find out whether they are OEM spec or not, neither can I find out whether they are going to cause problems as soon as fitted.

Does anyone know whether they are good quality and reliable?

Thanks,

Krikkit

What type of sensor is it?

I've used a few Facet sensors/EM items and all but one have been dead on. An ICV for a 90s Peugeot didn't work properly, but there aren't any non-OEM ones that don't for some reason.

Hi,

It would be an oil pressure switch for a Renaultsport Clio 182.

Thanks,

Facet have been going for years.

As to whether the part will work or fail quickly & cause problems in the absence of a working crystal ball it's impossible to say.

You do need to bear in mind with any part that you need to establish the cause of the failure of the part you are replacing & whether the cause of the failure is due to another item failing & if so a new part from any supplier won't last long.

If in any doubt then your only option is to order the part from a franchised dealer's parts dept & wait for it to arrive.

They're a large and well established company and I believe generally well regarded as far as quality is concerned. I wouldn't have any concerns about using their parts if they were a sensible price.

Buy it and fit it, to keep you going.

Then order a oem part from parts department and fit once you have collected?

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

The concern was whether it was good enough to help with fault tracing - i.e. I understand these switches sometimes fail rather than there being an actual oil pressure issue (which hopefully there isn't).

Oil pressure sensors do fail & often lead to a heart stopping moment when the light comes on!

BUT if you think you have an oil pressure problem it needs to be properly checked with a test gauge, too much at stake to risk it being a dicky sensor.

I'd be happy with Facet for an oil pressure sensor. I wouldn't use them for something that is very 'calibration sensitive' like a MAF or throttle body, OEM only for those. OEM spec from motor factors means nothing in my opinion. It's often junk and nowhere near the quality of OEM.

been around for donkeys, the fuel pump on my mgb is a facet I believe. They no doubt make lots of OEM parts anyway.
