Recommend Multimeter
Discussion
Hi I am looking to buy a mulitmeter to test sensors on the car engine - is there anything I should specifically look out for other than AC/DC measurement?
Looking at these Hanmer and Lomvum for £25-35:

Many thanks

I bought one on Ebay for £5.30. Just as good as the £40 one I had before, but more compact.
I view them like hdmi cables, you can pay £5 or £50, they all do the same job.

The only alternative I'd consider for the ops use, would be a compact multimeter with the gubbins built into one of the probes. As it might make it easier in some situations, but bulkier in others.

Personally I prefer analogue, and would look for one with a good ohm scale.
Why when dignal ones will be more accurate and easyer to read?A knock on an analogue meter will potentially knock them out of cal, no such bad luck with digital.
I bought a £20 multi-meter once, I needed to measure some very small mV signal whilst setting up a throttle body on my Ducati. It wouldn't hold a steady reading, bouncing all over. Fine on the bigger ranges.
I then bought a used Fluke from e-bay for £60 (we use Flukes at work, but the company pays for those !) and the reading was perfect.
Sometimes, you do get what you pay for.

I would say that accuracy comes with quality (as pcn1 says in a later post),and as for easier to read, well a watch, a clock, a tacho', a speedo, oil pressure gauge, are all readable at a glance if analogue
and preferable to digital.
This is just my humble opinion.
