I have a combo c work van, and had an issue with the ecu pin for power steering breaking off which I managed to temporary repair..
Anyway I have had the ecu repaired cloned for the replacement buy now my speedo is jumping all over the place and randomly stop working. I suspect the speed signal pin in the ecu plug harness is at fault I'm thinking that it it's too slack.
What could I wedge in the very small socket for it to make a better contact without trying to dismantle what looks like a very complex wiring ecu plug.

This is going to sound daft but have you tried cleaning it and re-seating? A squirt of servisol contact cleaner has "fixed" a few connectors for me.

Check that none of the terminals have been backed out of the housing.

I'd view that as confirming your problem diagnosis, not 'sorted'.
