Morning all,

I want to disable the rear wash on my car (2008 focus) as soon it will not have a rear wiper, I have a diagram of the wiper stalk but I am a bit confused, I've spoken to a mate and explained I would just cut wire 4 on the diagram and this should stop the rear wash working he seems to think it won't work.

Any help appreciated, I want to disable rear wash from the stalk, doesn't matter if I retain rear wipe as there will be no wiper soon.

Any understanding and assistance appreciated.

Diagram attached smile

Now put the full drawing in rather than just the middle part of it & we can see properly, but you are probably correct.

You could always just unplug the pump, assuming it is a separate one.

That is the full drawing, the only other drawing I have is the one attached.

The pump isn't seperate otherwise that would be my go too.

This seems the easiest option to me.

If it isn't a separate pump and there no easy way to unplug it, you could just loop some washer hose from the pump outlet back into the reservoir, so if it does run the pump on an automatic cycle etc, it doesn't actually do anything except circulate it a bit.

Thought my only other option would be too T the rear washers into the front so when the stalk is pulled for rear it comes out the front as they are joined together.

Was hoping someone could identify which wire to cut as this is surely the easiest way.

I wouldn't say cutting the loom is the easiest way.

What I'd do instead is get a T-piece and connect the outlet from the pump that goes to the rear washers into the front wash instead. Besides, how often are you likely to accidentally wash rear rather than front anyway?

It wouldn't be cutting the loom, I would cut the wire inside the wiper stalk, I have purchased a spare for £5 from ebay which is the one I would cut, so if it doesn't all go to plan I have my perfect working one ready to refit, just looking for a clue on which wire to cut.

The T'ing is a pita as all the wing and everything else has to come off and not a lot of room to cut pipes so my thoughts turned to disabling it at the switch rather than cutting up washer pipes.

It's not me it's someone else pulling it and covering the rear of the car after it's been cleaned rolleyeshehe

That is the full drawing,

I think you misunderstood me, the original pic is just the middle of a larger drawing so we can't see what is going to/coming from where, just a switch & some wires, so I am assuming 12v comes from the bottom of the pic & the top wires go to the pump.

Is it possible to just limit the movement of the switch?

Ahh, i had the diagram sent to me so will ask for the full photo, a brilliant idea would be to maybe superglue the mechanism so that you can't push it back onto wash!!! Excellent thanks for the idea smile

or fit the switch from a saloon, I assume that will do exactly what you want and not even have the symbols on the switch to confuse anyone wink

Such a good idea!!! I have looked on ebay and a saloon stalk is available without rear wipe or wash and it shows which pin is missing so i can just remove that pin now on mine.

Failing that i will buy the saloon stalk

Thanks all for all your help

Positive on 4 & Negative on 1 = Front

Positive on 1 & Negative on 4 = Rear

Remove cable at Pin 4 & connect it to the cable that goes to Pin 10 (don't remove cable at Pin 10 as it might internally link to something else)

Have a good day
