Is anyone clued up on renault and knows what the bulb is for in the engine bay.

My van (kangoo) has intermittent starter issues, it will start everytime but sometimes randomly itll take a while to fire up, just chug chug chug chug chug and finally fires. Ive heard squeezing this bulb helps, i tried it and seemed to work but im having to do it every few days. Is that normal ??

You may have a small air leak getting in to the fuel lines

Its currently under warranty but annoyingly the garage is 40 mile away so im hoping the fix myself rather than go all the way there and sit an wait for it to be done (as wont have transporr back), any clues how or where to check? Any advice appreciated.

The bulb will remove the air from the fuel lines, its normally something that is done once after opening up the fuel system (after changing a fuel filter etc).

If there is air in the lines (you might be able to see it) then there must be a leak allowing air in - check your fuel filter housing and trace it along

Absolutely this. You're re priming it every so often because there's air in it. If air is getting in I'd be worried fuel is getting out too. Look for damp patches, could be as simple as a loose union nut, hose clamp.

Otherwise, if it's under warranty get it sorted, clearly not right.

Booked in Saturday to take it back and will update. Got a feeling it may be air as above.

As the title says it doesnt go hard. My issue is i noticed some air in the fuel line, i removed the air and the van ran well for 2 days... then it started not firing again for sometimes 2 or 3 goes. I looked and theres bubbles in the fuel line again.

It seems if i pump the bulb it starts again but i dont want to be doing that every day and guessing something else will go wrong eventually. Weirdly when you press the bulb it never goes fully hard but im not sure how hard theyre meant to go.

Also as you pump the bulb you can hear a faint hissing from the other side of the engine bay everytime its full compressed just for a split second. So 3 squeezes of the bulb and youll hear tss tss tss. Ive had my fingers on just about every section and cant find any stops the noise. I also cant see any fuel leak or feel any air being released. Any ideas? Its driving me mad.

Does anyone know why upon inspection my kangoo van oil leak off pipe would be blocked off with just a normal screw?

Ive had some problems starting the van, its fine first thing in a morning but gradually gets worse throughout the day as its warmed up, then fine again the next day. I assumed it would be drawing air in somewhere so changed the fuel pipes but still doing it. Ive noticed an everyday screw jn the end of the oil leak off pipe so guessing thatll draw air in. Any ideas why the orevious owner would have done this or is it normal practice?

Sounds like the previous owner or last person to work in that area did a temporary fix ie bodged it.

For what reason though what issue would need that blocking off as id like to fix it properly rather than leave as bodge haha

There will be a leak off for each injector. Post a picture of exactly what you refer to.

It does seem rather like air leaking in when the system is not under pressure. It would only need a microscopic hole - quite possibly not enough to let diesel out or at least not enough to be noticeable.

Most likely to be the pump bulb itself that has the pinhole or crack.

I thibk it is the pump to be honest as when i depress the bulb you can hear it whistle. Guessing it isnt meant to? Or like someone trying to whistle kind of noise

If you can't buy the same part then any pump bulb will do as long as you know you can plumb it in ok.

Does anyone think the starting could be battery related? As today i had my hazards on while parked and within 5 mins the flashing gradually got slower. I then went to start it and it felt flat for about 3 seconds turning over slowly then fired into life. If it is battery related though how come it starts fine in a morning. Confusion city
