Weekend before last the interiror fan wouldn't work. Displayed different rates on the dash but no air through vents. I checked the 2 fuses (assume one is for aircon part) and they were fine. So I Googled and and it seems a common problem, the FSR (final stage resistor).
the following Monday the fan was working again. It worked OK all week until yesterday going home time (great boiling hot from parked all day). This morning it's working again.
I've seen that it's a PITA to get the part out and re fitted with a new one.
Any one else experienced this problem, intermittant functioning?
Is only going to get worse do you think? Do I have to bite the bullet and fit a new FSR?

I had to change mine when the fan worked at random speeds. It isn't too bad, it's sort of done by feel as you can't see the bolts when you are holding the torx driver in the area.

I had to buy this sort of driver as a normal socket set was too bulky to access the recessed bolts:

If it's only the power resistor which has failed, you may find it works on full speed. But when I've had similar problems, the heat from the resistor had damaged the connector and wiring loom quite close to it. That could cause the intermittent symptoms you're getting. It seems common for replacement power resistors to be supplied together with a flying lead to replace the last few inches of loom.

Only use a gen BMW part as the non gen ones don’t last. Even a used one if funds are tight.

Try popping off the cover and take a look.
The wires to the connector take a tight 90 degree path and it can just pop off under tension.
This happened to mine.....no need for new hedgehog.
