So basically I have a MK1 Audi TT couple that broke down and wont start, battery was busted. Got a new battery, the engine makes a spinning noise but no cranking so replaced the starter, nothing. Cambelt spins but engine doesnt make any noise to indicate it wants to start, help please.

Here's trying to start the car https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iMl7Dbk6DX8

If the engine turns over but won't fire I'd guess it's an immobiliser problem. Try a couple of lock/unlock cycles with the key fob (I'm not familiar with VAG immobilisers).

The car beeps when key is put in and the key light with lock goes off the dash, not sure if that makes it any better

Have you got a spark when you turn the engine over?

If you've an old, but working spark plug around you don't even have to undo a spark plug from the head just unplug the HT lead or coil pack lead whatever it is and put that on the old spark plug, the threaded part has to be earthed though.

The car broke down I'm wrong to just assume that it still sparks, I will go and check

Does your car have a key fob with buttons on? Are you using that to unlock the car or the key?

The key has buttons and they unlock and lock the car and turn off the alarm so pretty sure it's all good

I havent but I'll give it a go, took the hc of the plugs, there was a loose ground but no joy still. Cant get plugs out atm, no socket deep enough. When they key is turned to on, constant beep sounds like it's coming from then engine bay and after trying to start it, sounds like a jet engine spinning down
