Noisey engine??

I have a Vauxhall Astra 05 automatic
There's a loud noise coming from the engine like rattling metal

I've noticed its got louder since I've put more oil in
Does anyone have any idea what this could be

Car still has lots of power no lights on dash

does it sound like fairly lightweight metal? Could be an exhuast heat-shield.

Alternatively could be the engine eating itself. Time to get it to a mechanic!

What made you add more oil? Guy I work with just kept pouring oil into our Sprinter " because the oil light was on"!

Yep was the same be cause the oil light keeps coming on

Been told the nice could be due to oil so to replace the filter and do a complete oil change also could be water pump so I'm going to replace both of these another one that keeps being mentioned is the swirl flap
