I used to be able to charge my phone in my old car, but since changing to my Mazda MPS it won't charge.

Is there a way to check theres enough power getting through or to check my USB lighter plug?

Plug something else into the suspect lighter socket, or plug the USB charger into a known good lighter socket.

It seems very likely to me that the lighter socket isn't powered on the new car. Maybe a blown fuse or just a loose connection.

This wasn't charging, but recognition. My new car wouldn't recognise the phone, on Bluetooth. It demanded a code.
No code in handbook, none of the codes on the phone worked.
Took it back to dealer, who entered "00000000".
It worked.

There's power there, as an old 1a plug lights up. It just seems there's not enough juice to charge the phone

A quick google of 'Mazda mps won't charge phone' brings up a lot of stuff on the subject & low power to the usb socket appears to be the issue.
Here's a random one for you:

You might be better plugging it into a lighter socket adapter - although many of those only work if the ignition is on.

Thanks.

Mines 2010, so no USB socket. Just 2 lighter sockets, one of which doesn't work
