I am topping up my gearbox oil and need to use the dipstick filler tube. Can you advise me best way to heat the oil to make filling quicker please?

Bain Marie? Put oil can in a warm/hot water bath. Probably transfer oil to an open metal container and not boiling water.

Don't mix 'em.

You can normally get a pump. I used a huge syringe on my Renault twizy gearbox

I thought about a pump of some sort but have ordered a funnel with small diameter flexi hose. Guess what I will be doing on Saturday!

Put it in a glass jar in the microwave, I do it regularly at work. When it's getting a bit too hot to touch that's enough and it'll go in like water.

Just be absolutely sure that your gearbox actually requires oil as opposed to atf.

A lot of manual boxes now use atf (first one I had was a 5 speed 1983 Mk2 Granada) & using EP in one of those will not properly lubricate the box as the EP is too thick.

It's the synchros which benefit from it, not the bearings.

Thanks to all contributors for comment and advise. Think I will try the microwave heating idea.
The funnel hose I purchased online, the hose is to big to fit down the dipstick tube, now got a small plastic funnel.

I bought one of these for about £17 for my Z4 - the fill is on the gearbox in the transmission tunnel so you can't get to it with a hose and use gravity.

Way easier than using a funnel, although you do get a bit of an arm workout.

Cheers again, job done now I used two funnels, a tiny narrow nozzle into the dipstick tube and a larger funnel to feed the small funnel.
Warming up the oil in microwave and wife asked me what I was cooking, I said gearbox oil. That was a mistake getmecoat
