Brad Penn 10w30 racing oil or UK equivalent.
Discussion
The engine in my E type Jaguar was built to a reasonably high spec by Bill Terry in the USA. He recommends using Brad Penn 10w30 semi synthetic race oil in it (high zinc content I think). Does anyone know a supplier in the UK, or the closest UK available equivalent?
I won't be racing it, but I do want to put the absolute best oil in it.
Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Most people get way too hung up on the brand of oil being used.
The engine builder has stated to use Brad Penn.
That will be because it's a very good oil & he has no doubt had very few if any problems with it.
However, there are also lots of other very good synthetic oils on the market and your engine really won't be able to tell the difference and neither will you.
You need pay attention to what the engine builder specifies for the grade (10/30w) because he will have built it with certain clearances but as to the brand, knock yourself out.
As long as the Zinc content is there, or you use a good Zinc additive you'd be ok with Amsoil, Pennzoil, Mobil 1, Kendal, Castrol, Millers or any of the others.

Thanks Adam
I agree on the brand stuff. It was just a way of helping to find the correct equivalent.
Sadly I found out about the engines full spec only after having changed the oil to Morris 20w50 Golden film oil and putting 1600 miles on it. Hoping I haven't mucked anything up!?!

The key is a decent oil filter & regular changes.
Just get some good brand name 10/30w, check the zinc content to see if it's comparable with Brad Penn and if not, put in a Zinc additive.
