you can see more detail in my previous post. on my rx8 after I changed my clutch the exhaust gasket had cracked and was blowing so ordered new one but didnt work and tried a bunch of different things. in the end I took it to an exhaust shop and got two flanges welded on, still same situation. So the shop told me I need a new donut gasket, I put in a new donut gasket and still same problem. Theres a a metallic squeking sound coming from roughly where the manifold meets the cat (where it was welded). Car still sounds rough and is running a bit rough between 5-7k, I'm totally lost as to what it could be. it's decat so it couldn't be a blocked catalytic converter. if people can give me any suggestions on what it could possibly be I'd be extremely grateful as it's doing me absolute head in now.

Get someone to jam a well padded rag in the end of the exhaust to help identify where it is actually coming from, blown flexies are prime candidates for being hard to find as they tend to crack over 90 degrees or more.

Depends whether you consider £10 expensive. You could get away with a manometer if you were really determined not to spend money. The easy way to do it would be unplug and remove a lambda sensor, screw in an adapter and connect a small hose to the gauge. A quick blip of the throttle would show up any major restriction downstream of the sensor.
