My son bought one of these for his old Yaris that is at the moment SORNed.

https://www.aldi.co.uk/car-battery-charger/p/09003...

His other car is a Polo with stop start and a EFB battery.

The question is if he ever needed to charge the battery on the Polo would this do the job?

The instructions don't say one way or another.

All they say is no good for Lithium batteries.

Any help appreciated.

I have three of these and use them for conditioning/long term lay ups.

They are very good and easily compare with much more expensive versions such as Ctek (which I also have). Whilst they are not intended for charging per se I seem to recall recovering an almost fully discharged battery with one.

They are so cheap just give it a go, nothing to lose really.

I've used this and it works fine for top up or conditioning.

I have had problems with lower charged batteries in that it can't recognise what type of battery it is 6v or 12v and you are then unable to start it charging so won't charge from dead.

I have one and have used it with various cars and motorbikes. A brilliant piece of kit and nice and compact.

I think the OP was more concerned about damage to the battery or the car it’s in, rather than the charger itself.

Page 10 seems to allude to it being ok for AGM batteries; the Varta website states an EFB battery can be replaced with an agm battery.
I’ll admit it’s the first time I’ve heard of an EFB battery but they seem to just be a slightly more advanced type of lead-acid battery made withstand the rigours of dealing with stop-start tech.
