Which trailer socket pins to use for charging?
Discussion
Hi folks
I've got a disco 4. That's currently sat still doing F all, and will be for the next 12 weeks since my wife is in an "at risk" category, i don't imagine we will stray far if at all for a whie..
I have a ctek battery charger, but the disco bonnet won't shut with the comfort connector in place and also it's not that convenient for when i do want to use the car. I had an idea to rig up a charger via the trailer socket.
The disco has a 13 pin trailer socket. I assume two pins are 12v + and -. Now that shouldn't be too tricky to find out (I think i need pin 9 and 13), however i want to make it weather proof if possible, so i was thinking of using my 13pin to twin 7pin adapter so i could hook on to the wires and close the flap over the wire and also not rely on any deliveries at this uncertain time.
So, in such an adapter (link below as to the one i have) where does pin 9 and 13 come out on the two 7 pin sockets? Is it as per the listing, pin 4 and 3 on the grey-capped plug? Also, i have a few bullet type connectors in my tool box, are trailer a standard size or something special?

I wish I knew the technical stuff but you can buy an off the shelf adaptor for your CTEK to plug into the trailer socket.
One of the 3rd party LR goody suppliers make one up.
My L405 has one shoved up its rear end as we speak.
I’ll do a search for the receipt if you want details.
You can, but they are £30, when i already have the expensive bit (a spare comfort connector) and they are also not available currently because the person who makes them is in isolation, at least i got such a message when i emailed. One of the 3rd party LR goody suppliers make one up.

None of the disco's cig sockets are perm live (unless i missed something) they all shut down after 10 mins of locking the car.swisstoni said:

As above, available ready made for £30 on ebay or buy a 13 pin plug and ctek flylead for half that and join them together yourself.Search for 13 pin ctek on ebay. Only one result when I checked.
Edit: A bit late with reply

I was hoping to make it with what I've got here if possible. If i could avoid adding a pointless parcel (and delay and risk of loss) to what i imagine is going to be quite the workload in the coming weeks

Not on the L405 at least, because it shuts a lot of electrics down after about 10 mins. The cig lighter socket being one of them.

Gosh, eltax, get out there in your car, with the Memsahib! Fresh air is not a risk. If you fill up before taking her out, and then do the hand wash thing, the risk is small. Chose your spot and take a walk in the countryside! Good for you both!I've got a disco 4.
