I am trying to work out why my 2002 CRV creaks/clunks a bit when going over bumps or in any situation where the front end drops or bounces essentially. I changed the driver side drop link when I first got it 6 months ago as it was a bit knackered, never got around to changing the passenger side... It recently had brake discs and pads all around and 2 driver side calipers (not sure if this would affect anything) I noticed the creaking ever so slightly after the brake work was done.
I am not sure what to try next. Is it worth spraying all the bushes with silicone spray/WD40 and see if that temporarily keeps it quiet? It has gotten worse in the past week or two for sure.
It had a new driver side track rod end a few weeks ago too.

Thanks

Our 2006 Civic creaks and this is down to top mounts, could be the same with your CRV?

If the creaking is coming from the rear it is likely to be handbrake shoes/pads moving slightly on compression/relaxation of the axle.

Try it with the handbrake level pulled up a click or 2 & see if it still happens.

If it is the front it is likely to be top-mounts.

Definitely front end.
If it is top mounts, can that be left for a while? Is there a definite way of testing them?

As long as there's no/ minimal movement in them then it'll be fine. Our's was MOT'd at the weekend and he said there is no excessive movement, they are just noisy.

How can I test how much movement is in them?

Jack up the front, put a lver in the suspension and move it.
See what you see/hear.
