So my PD150 mk4 golf had been playing up going in to a sort of limp mode without the CEL. I gave up on it for over a week because of the headaches I had checking this and that.

I thought I'd give it a start today see what I could suss out. Sounded okay on start up but heard a bit of thumping from the airbox. Turned engine off then back on, same noise, revved the car and noticed it wouldn't go past 1900-2000 rpm.

I disconnected the MAF and it did rev past the 2k, sounded rougher but I'm guessing that was because the MAF and pipe were seperated?

Put everything back together again and had the same issue as initially started So, probably a dumb question but replace the MAF? Just after a second opinion before I go and source one.

Thanks.

The only valid second opinion would need to come from a scanner.
Do you have any codes set?

I had a scan about 6 weeks ago for something else and the MAF shown up on the test but didn't have the bad MAF symotoms so I think i answered my own question really. Would you know if bremi is a good make? I know Bosch is oem but can't seem to get one near me and I'm not sure what the "GSF premium" brand is (which is £40 more than bremi).
