I need the following gasket but it's going to take 4 weeks to arrive from Transylvania. I've decided to use gasket paper to make my own.
What thickness paper would you use if you didn't know how thick the new gasket was?!?

What's it for? I've made gaskets from cardboard file folders for a number of things such as intake manifolds. I've also had success with Loctite gasket sealant but you need to consider the application.

It's a gasket between a camshaft driven hydraulic suspension pump and the cylinder head on a W123

In the 'good old days when we were young & skint' we used to make the paper gaskets for British motorbikes from cereal boxes.
Used with suitable gasket cement they sealed fine.
So on that basis measure your corn flakes box & buy gasket paper of that thickness.
Only fly in the ointment might be a thickness specific application.

^ Yes also used to tap out some shapes with a small hammer. Quite the norm 'back in the day'.
