Bmw 116d help

My bmw 116d. I took my car too the garage on Friday and the garage man said I need 2 new glow plugs because 2 wasn’t working. He said 1 is a normal glow plug and the other is a special glow plug. He said it’s pricey as well. Any one know what he is talking about and what that part is called so I can check up about it please

Be surprised if they are different between cylinders, what were the symptoms for taking it to the garage? Hard starting?

I’ve never seen an engine where all the plugs weren’t identical. Just a quick search through ECP shows a single plug type for the 116d. It sounds like there’s been a misunderstanding.

Are you sure he wasn’t offering you two different brands / quality levels as options?

As above, what are the symptoms?

I think you've misunderstood the mechanic, I'm guessing you have an injector & glow plug problem.

Engine warning light shows. He said he has taken 2 glow plugs out and tested and said one was a special pressure glow plug
