Hi all

Ive just brought a car that the previous replaced the battery with a new Euro Car Parts about 6 months ago. It came with a 3 year warranty. Well the batteery refuses to hold its charge and I would like to use that 3 year warranty and have it replaced.

Is the warranty with the inital purchaser ? i have the receipt so can I just walk in and demand a replacement ?

ive never used a warrant before so what do I need to do ? Can I just walk in ?

Any help greatfully recieved.

The contract was between ECP and the buyer ie not you. I suppose there’s nothing stopping you walking into an ECP and pretending to be the original buyer of the battery though.

If you have the receipt just pretend that it was you who bought it and take it back as a warranty claim.

Is it a 'Lion' branded battery? If so they are a load of rubbish and I wouldn't anticipate a replacement lasting a great length of time.

Yes it is a lion.

I will ring tomorrow and pretend to be the previous owner. I don't want a refund so no card required.

Nothing to loose

Could be embarrassing when they ask for name and address.
They're used to fraudulent claims and know how to deal with them.

I’d buy a good quality battery as the last thing you want is it dying at an inconvenient time

Likely to want reasonable proof of purchase.

Often to prove the battery was obtained legitmately, is within warranty period, and the original purchaser.

Not a fan of the original seller, so by all means try it and see what they say. But avoid lion brand, false economy.

Is the person that sold you the car close by ? Perhaps they will get it sorted for you

As mentioned by others, the problem is that the replacement battery will very likely fail within a short period of time if the make is as bad as stated

If you do manage to get it replaced, remember that you don't get a warranty on a warranty replacement, it will still have the original guarantee period from the point of initial purchase.

This is very sensible advice.

Did you get anywhere with this? I bought a Bosch S4 from them a couple of years ago and it keeps going flat in my E46. I would hope I have a receipt somewhere... It went flat a couple of times from a parasitic current draw so I'm assuming this has killed it.
