MK6 Golf passenger side headlight

I am embarrassed to post this but here goes:

Essentially I have dropped not only the new bulb but separately to this the bulb holder within the housing of the headlight. The trouble is due to the limited access I can't get my hand in far enough to retrieve either of the dropped items.

Is the only option to get them back to remove the whole headlight?

Edit: Managed to drag the holder back to the back of the housing using a small screwdriver and squeeze my hand down enough to grab it. No idea where the missing bulb is hiding.

At least I have a working headlight now.

A flexible pick-up tool would probably be your best bet if you're still stuck - maybe in conjunction with a small mirror. You can probably get one with an integral endoscope if you want to get fancy.
