My Audi TTRS is in for a service this weekend at a local Indy (for half the price a main dealer wants to charge). For an additional cost they have offered something called ‘Millers nano oil’.

Question is. Is it worth it? Will there be any benefit to paying the extra £50?

A quick search online was showing the cars gained an extra few bhp, which I’m not to worried about.

If it was a fiver more I'd think about it, but not £50 more.

Cars that gained power probably would have gained the same power just by putting any other clean oil in their sump.

Do you know what the 'standard' oil they plan to use is, if you don't opt for this upgrade?

The Audi approved Millers oil for your car is the standard synthetic XF Longlife stuff, at £40 / 5 litres if you buy direct from Millers.

The Nanodrive stuff is £45 for 5 litres, and 'meets the specifications of' the VAG standard.

To me, the manufacturer approval would be worth more than any perceived benefit of the Nanodrive technology.

EDIT: I wouldn't expect a garage to sell you the oil at cost, but to inflate the difference to £50 would make me worry what they were planning to fill it with as standard. Millers oils are good quality, but they really aren't expensive by market standards

It’s not £50 more expensive than normal oil as it’s only about £50 a bottle anyway.

I use it in my cars that go on track. In my Skoda it reduced oil temps by 10 degrees. If your car is only used on the road it’s probably not worth it.

This, would also worry me.

As for nannodrive/NT+ I read all I could find about it, some great, some not. On balance there was more positive evidence and I would say if you drive your car hard, I would and do use it.

I'm assuming the normal oil will be to manufacture spec. It's a highly regarded indy garage that specialise in VAG so i'm not overly worried.

I've opted for the normal stuff. My thoughts are the same as the above. The cars used for the commute and day to day stuff. It's rarely driven hard nor will it see a track.

Not worth an extra £50
£20 would be more reasonable

Vag would probably use quantum oil which is bottled by fuchs lubricants, one of the best available so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
