When cleaning the interior of the car earlier, under one of the front seats I found a screw with 12mm diameter philips head, 20mm long with a body about 5mm thick.

After some searching around the seats with a head-torch I eventually discovered it came from the position marked in the picture below.
I have now put it back in.

I'm not a seat expert but it looks to me like it holds the side panel on the seat, or maybe holds the plastic seat casing onto an inner frame.

Does anyone know for sure what the screw is for?

Thanks!
RB

I agree just looks like a screw for ther trim panel. At 5mm it won't be any of the main structure (seat mtg bolts, seat belt etc).

Dunc.

Still, at least he's learned some useful Photoshop skills in the downtime.

I think you're selling yourself short. In fact I have a question: Today I unbolted one of my front seats but mislaid a washer. Speaking from your experience, where is it likely to have fallen? It was the wavy type, about 15mm OD, 11mm ID.

Reading the OP again, I've just realised that it's us that need the very big WHOOSH parrot.

He's laughing at us actually answering his inane post, rather than us laughing at him.
