Passat B6 with a vibrating gear stick

I’ve got a Passat B6 on a 57 plate with 140,000 miles on the clock, regularly serviced, looked after and otherwise in good health for its age.

My problem is the gear stick vibrates at slow speeds in 4th gear, at low revs it’s juddering about, if I put my foot down it gets better but doesn’t go away. Anybody got any ideas?

Could be something as simple as a bit of slack in the pivots for the lever, unlikely to be anything to worry about either way.

Just the gear stick? I've seen dual mass flywheel failures result in wobbling gear sticks.

Yeah just the gear stick and only in 4th, there’s a rattling kinda noise but it’s hard to hear it over the engine. Is that a big job?

It might be worth doing the input shaft modification.
Darkside developments do the kit. Mine was becoming more difficult to go in 1st but there are other symptoms.
For what it costs and how easy it is to do it is worth doing anyway.
