Intermittent gear problem

I have a 2013 Fiat 500 - with around 30,000 miles on the clock.
I had a problem a few weeks ago where I suddenly couldn't get the car into gear.
I have had a recon gearbox and clutch - I still have the same problem.
Took it back to the garage and they replaced the gearbox as they weren't happy with it (after being persuaded to drive the car around to see if they had the same problem)
Now I have had it back around a week and I am still having the same problem.
I can't say when it's going to do it next or where.

My car won't let me put it into gear but when I switch the engine off for a couple of minutes and switch it back on - it's fine.

Btw whilst the car was in the garage I had a hire care and didn't have any problems. (I thought it was "just" me so many times)

At the end of my tether now, and don't know what to do as getting another car isn't a viable option at the moment & I am the only car holder in the family.

Are all the gears affected, or only one or two? Will it always go into all the gears with the engine turned off?

Could be worn gear linkage.

Hi Gemma & Jay, Did you ever get this sorted? My mum has just got a Fiat 500 and is getting the same intermittent problem (i.e. in slow moving traffic, suddenly can’t engage any gear, switch off and back on again and all works again).
