Fog light switch... HELP!
Discussion
Good afternoon
I need help to wire in an illuminated switch for my rear fogs. I want the switch to only light up when the lights are turned on and when I push the button the rear fogs to come on but only when the light are on. I'm guessing I tap into the wire to the rear lights for the power and ground the ground wire to a bolt under the dash. The rest of it I'm lost and need help. The switch has 5 prongs on the rear and they are as follows:-
+
-
NC1
NO1
CO
What wires go where?
Also the switch can take up to 3 Amps so no idea if it's OK.
Thanks

Guesswork :
NC = normally closed, NO = normally open, and COM = common.
+ and - could be for the illumnination? I'd test that first off the battery.
Connect + to positive from your rear lights and - to negative from the chassis to get the LED to illuminate only when lights are on, link the + to common so you're supplying the switch itself with power, then connect NO (normally open) to the fog, so when you press switch it links COM and NO together.
I would stress that that is a guess!!!
You really need a circuit tester to be safe, plus the fog could cause the lighting fuse to blow so you might need a relay and separate feed from the fusebox or battery.

I figured it out. I wired the power to the rear lights to the positive on the switch and to NO1, then the fog light to CO and the ground to the car. Works a treat but I'm getting foglamp faulty pop up on the dash when I activate the fog light. Will this fail an MOT if that pops up on the screen even though it works?
