So have gathered all the parts I need this week I've just checked the weather and....rain. All weekend non stop.

The garage is full of junk & the car is too wide to get down the drive. It's already on the ramps so I need a way to work on it.

I'm able to rent peg into half the ground. The other half is on concrete but I have plenty of breeze blocks to tether down with.

Mostly engine work changing thermostats & water pump

What suggestions do people have ideally something I can pick up today or in the morning.

I could possibly just move it further into the garage and use the door as more of a cover but the driveway narrows too much and I don't think I'd get it in.

It's right in front of the house so I'm thinking to screw a tarpaulin to the soffit under the drain and make some kind of canopy but not sure how to secure the other side

Running out of time on the MOT on the other car so hence the urgency to get stuff finished this weekend

Do it when it’s not raining.

Was thinking something like this up against the bonnet with maybe a tarpaulin to cover any gaps

Risk of not doing it this weekend is MOT runs out in 1.5 weeks so if it get rained out next week will up a creek

When working on the car in the rain under a gazebo or whatever, it’s the water on the ground that gets you wet.

So, waterproof overalls.

Either this, using paracord to tie the other end to the wheels, or pick up one of them cheap gazebos from argos or similar.

Personally I'd prefer the tarp as you won't have to keep and eye on it as they really like to try and take off in the wind

Can't see a tent like that work, but a decent solid gazebo might well work.

Was thinking along those lines myself, if there are any about they should be cheap this time of year, especially this year.

I've used a gazebo to work in the rain, but as someone else said if you have to lie on the ground then you are going to get wet if it's raining hard.

Having worked in a tin garage where water got under the walls, there is nothing worse that lying in a pool of water while trying to work above your had in the piggin cold.

That said, I should have got sorted with a thick foam mat, and or crawl board.

Get a cheap creeper to lie on but be sure to leave it under the car when you're away from it having a brew or warming up.

Or, do you have a mate with a shed/garage that you could use?

Pay a mobile mechanic to do it?

Weather isn't too bad today so taking some time off work to try and get it done today instead and work through till it's done.

Other option I had was this one:

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/1173204

relatively cheap and easy to tie up

I am also going to get a tarp and nail it to the soffit and then tie it across the car if it gets too late and risk of finishing is slim

This is my tack now. Certainly for the daily driver.
