Hey all,

I've recently purchased a new car which came with a set of M-Way roof bars on ... problem is the previous owner has lost the keys and I cannot find replacements anywhere! The number stamped on the lock is M360! Anyone got any ideas where I can get a key or how I can remove them?

Thanks in advance

Just pick the lock. Easy enough to learn.

Drill the lock out. They’ll disintegrate pretty quickly.

I got ones off ebay for a Thule set in similar circumstances.

Try these guys. They do a M range. Worth a try for a couple of quid.

Probably need some oil too from the look of them. Drilling out may yet be necessary.

Or carefully cut the hook between the foot and where it wraps around the edge of the roof. It wouldn't be too hard with a cutting disc.

I have a set of cheap roof bars for Mrs Scrump car and they look remarkably similar.
The lock only holds on the plastic cover. Behind the cover is a nut which secures the roof bars. I never bother citing the locking cover on ours.
Just snap off the plastic to reveal the attachment.

I you aren't bothered about the cover then... small chisel and lump hammer, put point to lock and give it a good crack, it'll break away either from its plastic mount n spin or the plastic will fracture n you can remove to access the bolts under it holding it to the car

Sensible solution is get new keys.
PH solution....get a hefty angle grinder/ big hammer and chisel, powerful drill.

But if you use a power tool of any kind make sure every speck of paint nearby is covered... And do yourself and forget using an angle grinder! The sparks will go straight into and/or through paint, but you won't notice what a disaster it is until it next rains.

One of my neighbours did his van a few years ago while working on his car, most amusing!
