Hi guys

I am trying to source a fuel sender unit for a 1963 Porsche 356B that I am restoring.
I need a unit which reads 73-10 ohms.
The gauge is a VDO make and the corresponding VDO sender part number is 221-012.
Sounds straightforward enough, but I cannot find anything in the U.K.
I don’t mind if it’s an aftermarket equivalent as long as the range is correct and it works.
I originally purchased a sender from Design 911 which is for the 356 but it is zero ohms upwards and needless to say the gauge is reading backwards.
Does anyone know if the early beetle senders read high ohms empty and low ohms full?
I have contacted three or four suppliers and not one of them could tell me.
Also posted on Porsche classics forum.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers.

Is that the one you're after? https://www.vdo-gauges.com/lever-arm-fuel-sender-f... (VDO US)

Seen that on offer here:
https://www.seefeldt.de/de/elektrischer-tankgeber-... (DE)
https://vwkaefershop.de/tank-kraftstoff/kraftstoff... (DE - B quality; A quality NLA)

ETA: another reference # "113 919 049D"

I just googled VDO 221-012 and the VDO website shows this exact item, for a classic Beetle.

Thanks for the replies.
I tend to agree that the senders mentioned in the replies would probably be suitable, it would just be reassuring to see the ohms range actually written against the item.
I just don’t want to end up with another one that has the scale reading from low (empty) to high(full)
Thanks again

It does, the ratings on the VDO item are exactly what you asked for.

Yes absolutely.
Problem is I can’t source the VDO unit in the U.K. smile

Both offers linked above are from smaller shops. I can well imagine that Fritz would confirm multimeter readings for you when asked.

Else, you could ask these guys https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/v226001-vdo... to do the same. I've dealt with them in the past, and they were helpful in finding a solution.

Can't you import one if you can't get one here? The Heritage one looks the same as yours, so worth a call.

1963 makes it a T6 body type, which either have the tank sender unit mounted on top OR on the bottom of the tank. Can you please confirm!?

Yes thanks guys.
I will give VW heritage a call.
They are not open weekends.
I’m just a bit anxious about wasting more money on the wrong part. Some of the product information regarding the VW sender is conflicting, depending on whose website you look at.
