Not bought any for a fair few years. If i remember rightly, they were around £40 a set last time I bought them.

Now £70+

ECP ARE £127 a set. Or £84 after using their discount code.

Seems extortionate.

Can anyone recommend any other places?

1.5 dci nissan.

Checked ebay, can see they're £19.99 a set. That sounds ridiculously cheap lol. Surely wont last long?

Just go on Ebay, type your vehicle details and then look on the left hand side for the brand etc.

You’re moaning they’re too expensive, then you’re moaning they’re too cheap. You bought the Nissan, bang the cheapest nastiest set in that you can, that’s exactly what the manufacturer did....

It would have helped if you gave us your car details, rather than leaving us to guess. You could have found this information yourself in 30 seconds.

Correct.

Usual price for a set seems to be up to £40 for a good set (when I last bought). It seems to be the same guestimate on forums too.

£20 a set may end up being very costly. Tip breaking off into engine isn't unheard of.
£80- £130 sets seem to be way overpriced. Also today I came across a chap that destroyed his engine with bosch plugs breaking up.

I have bought a few sets of the eBay cheapies, they don't last long for a 1.9TDI, whereas the ones in an M47R are fine after 2 years. Are you dead sure they aren't working? You can test them, if they are open circuit they are dead, in and around 1.5 ohms is normal. I usually take them out, test them and run them over the bench grinder wire brush (heater end and electrical connection too ) and a smidge of copper slip. The ones in our DW10 don't even come on until sub 4 degrees as far as I know. Most direct-injection engines don't need GPs for starting, they use them for post-start emissions and monitoring feedback depending on the modernity of the ECU. I'd be hesitant to buy some branded products off eBay nowadays unless from a big-feedback seller or a well-known store, lots of very, very convincing fakes out there unfortunately.

It was the plan today to take them out to test them but, the cold weather made me shuffle back inside rather quickly. I don't think its that easy to remove them on this motor, got to remove a fair few pipes, covers and possibly even fuel lines. I can do it but, the weather is just an absolute killer at the moment.

The car won't start, stopped when the cold snap came. I jump started it and got it running, drove it around for a bit. Started (JUST) for a couple days and then stopped again. Battery seems OK although cannot completely rule it out. Glow plug relay could be at fault. Fault code is P0380-96. Im tempted to just replace the plugs as its been a while and I thought that would be the cheapest option.

There are also Beru and NGK on Ebay. I've never had any problems buying form them. Just look for a proper outlet. I would also buy Bosch without any second thought.

Grab a smart charger and stick it on, if the battery is in any way suspect it will cause issues. After that, plugs as you're right they are cheap. Fault code seems inconclusive, but it's rare for all four to stop working. Also, the no start, will it spin over but not fire?

I have a Megane 1.5 DCI and bought a set of genuine Bosch (I checked the codes online) from dorsetautospares on eBay and they were £21.99 delivered.

I didn't even know I had an issue until I was trying out an ODB2 scanner and got a glow plug error. I strongly suspect they were the original set, and testing them revealed three of the four didn't actually work anymore. I suspect the glow plugs are not your issue as even with only one working my car still started perfectly.

They were easy to remove, the only issue was I had to grind the socket thinner as it wouldn't quite fit into the bore of the glow plug.

Thanks for the comments.

Weather now started to get warmer so i'll be testing the plugs one by one with a multimeter. I guess, I could also test the battery under load (starting load) with a multimeter. I heard that the glow plug relay is a common failure on this model car I have, so it could still be that. I'll definitely get the plugs tested though by the weekend.
