I have a juke 1.5 dci 2011 where a mist of oil is spraying out of the boost pipe slightly.

Nissan quoted me £106+vat for the pipe when all I need is the gasket /O ring that sits inside the end that meets the turbo.

Managed to access the Nissan parts catalogue myself and I found an aftermarket part on ebay for £26.99 here:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TURBO-INTERCOOLER-HOSE-...

Before I dig deep for £27 British notes....

Does anyone have any idea if the gasket could actually be purchased elsewhere?

It may be the seal that has failed, but it could be wear in the mechanism that secures the boost pipe in place that has caused the issue to happen in the first place.
Replacing just the o-ring might solve the issue short term, but leave you with the same problem in the future.

It’s the same with vag boost hoses. The seals in them leak once slop starts to be found in the connections. At the very least, changing the Retention clips at the same time as the o-rings Is usually a good idea.

If it's the O ring visible in the link it's green, which a quick google suggests is a specific compound:
https://www.globaloring.com/oring-colors/

If you can remove yours then you might be able to find a local bearing & seals stockist who can measure & supply one of appropriate size & material.
Although it might be quicker & easier to get the complete item in the link.

No designer designs new 'O' Rings for an engine. Or anything else.
It will be a standard size 'O' ring but they do come in different materials. Reflected in their colour. If you can remove it, any bearing type shop will most likely stock it.
They cost next to nothing.
Edit. Beaten to it!

That pipe around the o ring is really weak and prone to snapping. You’re best off just replacing it now to save any future breakdowns.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I will take a look to make sure its not cracked underneath and then see if the gasket is still present. If it is i'll try buy just the gasket from the places recommended. Failing that, £26.99 for the entire pipe isn't bad.

I'd be tempted just to skip to the end and buy the whole pipe - 27 quid, job jobbed for now.

But if not, you can get big kits full of O-rings on places like ebay for not a great deal, at least you should have spares!

To be fair, generally in engineering, gaskets do fail. But 'O' rings usually take a lot of punishment/extreme pressure before giving up.

Change out the pipe, for £27 its not too much - chances of getting it out without damaging the existing pipe and refitting is pretty slim

Take it to a gasket company and they'll find something suitable for pennies. Where I used to work they'd usually give one offs to people without charge.

So i've inspected it again and found only half of the O ring remaining.

The other half is either down the pipe in the intercooler or eaten by the turbo,,, eeek.

And its an unusual shape...

Appears to be 44mm inside diameter.

Oh bugger! Presumably it'll be in the intercooler...

That's not an 'O' Ring.

I don't know the technical name of it. Intercooler seal then.. perhaps.

Half the companies list this item as a O ring.

Im guessing a regular O ring would do the job though...

Regardless of its name, It doesn't help me resolve the problem.
It does. You can buy a new part with the Gasket attached. You can't buy a single 'O' Ring for 4p now because it's not an 'O'Ring.
Gaskets ARE designed to fit designed parts. So difficult or impossible to obtain new
If your worried about stuff falling into your engine/intercooler Don't fit somthing that looks about right. Fit the correct part.

No it won't, it's not an o-ring, get the right part.

+1.
You've already got one item missing somewhere in the engine.

I need some opinions.

I went for the aftermarket complete hose and also bought a vw gasket as well just to give me a choice on what to do . The gasket didn't turn up but the aftermarket hose did. Its plastic and the inner part of the hose has all rough plastic, some little bits also can easily come off.

Would anyone stick this onto their turbo? just looking for advice...
