Morning all,

The bonded windscreen in my fiesta ST (mk6) is leaking around the heating element wiring. Took an age to find the leak, seems to be a gap in the sealant that I need to plug up and seal.

So.... Poylurethane? Butyl? Anyone had success with a UK available brand they can recommend?

I also assume I need to do this from the outside and the inside, so need to pry out the rubber trim - does it go back in through pressure or does it need bonding back in place after?

Cheers!

Search for "Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Seal" - sounds weird but I'm not winding you up I promise! Uses capillary action to leach into the gaps in the seal. If you start putting additional sealant around the edges it will look awful.

Have seen that stuff, still recommended even if I know exactly where the leak is (I can see it!)?

Rebonding is the best solution I'm sure, but probably be selling this thing this year so I want a half decent repair, but without costing the earth.

I think it's only for hairline splits, if you can see a gap then prob no good.

Oh ok, thanks - I don't know how big the gap is inside tbh, I assume a poorly prepped screen left a channel in the sealant - I can just see cavern above the heating wires with drips coming out.

The leak sealer stuff something I'll keep in mind for panel crevices etc though so thanks!

On a related note, can these rubber seals be removed and replaced without damaging them? The leak is about 15cm down (i.e. the seal in bottom of pic).
