Long shot but trying my luck here.

I have a faulty vacuum actuator on my Akrapovic exhaust system on my m6. It’s not under warranty so Akrapovic want 2k+ For the backboxes, they won’t supply a valve on its own.

You can see from the attached pic what it looks like, from what I can see it’s used in many different exhaust applications but try as I might I cannot find anywhere to buy one, there are alternatives out there but due to the bumper clearance most others won’t fit.

This one is made by pierburg.

Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to get hold of one? Car is in bits right now and need to get it back together!

Thank you

Maybe try Helical Technology Limited in Lancashire. They supply vacuum exhaust valve actuators to OEM's. They might have something off-the-shelf that could do the job.

I’ve had a quick look and it looks like it could be but again, not a part that seems to be available on its own.

It's a vacuum actuator shouldn't be that hard to find one similar enough to modify to make one fit

Has it any part numbers on it indicating original manufacturer?

Something like this?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exhaust-Control-Valve-w...

It's a three bolt mounting top inlet rather than side

I know what it is, there are very few that fit, it’s a pierburg 7.22151.18. There are many that look like they’d fit but where it needs to go, with the same bolt layout and threaded actuation arm etc but I need one the same physical size as this, and it’s very difficult to find one it seems

Yeah that’s what I mean. As I say it won’t fit, I’ve tried. The actuator unit itself is a lot deeper than the original

Yep seen those, they sell them as a kit in the uk too and they are pricey but they are my backup option if I can’t find the actuator on its own

Have you contacted Pierburg?

They might not sell direct but they might give the name of their UK or German Distributor

They also might be able to tell you if it's been discontinued/replaced by a newer part

They are indeed a Porsche used part too, I’ve actually ordered something from design911 which I’m hoping will work but it’s on back order so who knows when it will get here

Genuine question: Do you actually need it? Unless the sound is drony or obnoxious without it, or you get a fault code, then just fix the valve in the open position.

This is what I found from a Porsche 997, I'm sure with the right numbers you could find it cheaper, not sure if it's exactly the same, looks almost identical

https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod126451/Porsche-...

Much cheaper one from the same place:
https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod141959/Sport-ex...

The Porsche part number for the above is 99711168001

There's also a Porsche 911 one that looks different:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Porsche-Carrera...

Found this thread on a cayman forum that might be helpful if it's the same, they note that the cheaper one could be 10mm shorter than the genuine one. https://www.caymanoc.com/forums/topic/2122-pse-iss...

That looks exactly like a turbo wastegate actuator, these are vacuum actuated on turbo diesels. I bet you could easily adapt a suitable actuator, and they are pretty cheap e.g. VW 1.9 TDI Actuator
