Hi people I got my engine and glow plug light on but the car is running fine, I got a reading and it says it’s exhaust pressure sensor and the mechanic says even if you change that it won’t cure it? It’s vw polo 1.2 tdi any help

Can't help diagnosing your particular car but when a glowplug failed on my Sprinter van it kept the glowplug warning light on so my suspicions would fall on you having a dead glowplug.

Replacing my glowplugs showed up 2 dead ones out of the 4 & it put the light out & considerably improved cold weather starting!

I would suspect one or more failed glow plugs. It should be possible to test the glow plugs and their supply electrically before you commit to replacing them.

One thing at a time, you know you have one/more goosed glow plugs, get that sorted, reset any codes & try again, noting the EXACT code, not what the mechanic says.

The glow plug light on vw's acts as an emmisions warning light, basically what we'd normally expect the check engine light to do. It's almost certainly an EGR fault but could be other things

You need a code read

Edit sorry you got one - exhaust pressure sensor, you need to know which code it was, and any accompanying codes. So its a dpf vehicle? It might even be a clogged tube but it's difficult to say without the live data
