Volvo S80 display

Hi guys, never know where to post these things, need some help.

Drove up town no problem parked no problem. Came back started car, absolutely nothing lit up on the dash board, thought a fuse, everything electrically worked, could even hear indicator click as it does, but they were working, cruise control fine, just absolutely no lights, neither did the petrol or temp,gauge work.

Anyway looked in the hand book hoping to find a fuse for the consul, but can't see one, any ideas?

Just thought, off to check diesels in car I remembered they don't match those in the book for reasons unbeknown. It's. 2003 reg by the way.

Did you wash the car yesterday, could water have got into the electrics?

I had a similar problem a few years ago.

No, but it worked driving up town, didn't work when I restarted it, how did you sort your problem?

I started the car first thing, and it ran ok, i had a 50 mile drive and during the drive the ABS light came on and the electric power steering stopped assisting. Called into the main dealers and they wanted £75 to plug it into a diagnostic, the car was 2 months old, I thought that they should have done it without charge.

The previous day I had given it a good wash and I thought that water may have got in through the scuttle vents. I had another 10 mile drive and some other warning lights came on but the engine was perfect. When I arrived I let it tick over and, in my mind, let the engine heat do its stuff, the warning lights pinged their way off.

Did you have heavy rain last night, I would have a look around the electrics for any sense of damp, just by way of looking at the easiest and cheapest things first.

Always rains in Aberdeen, nothing out of the ordinary, no downpours or tropical storms.

Well I checked all the fuses with my little £5 meter I bought around 75, knew it would come in handy one day, nothing out of the ordinary, tried engine again, and everything worked, so was thinking a loose fuse.

But in the Display it said "SRS AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT".

Whether that tripped something, or not, having it checked out, is in for a new power steering pump anyway next week. May just be a sensor, didnt know airbags needed servicing.

By "service" it means fix a fault.

My Volvo C30 threw up that, or a very similar, warning recently after it had a flat battery.
Fully charged the battery and warning disappeared.

I don’t know if that will be any assistance to you or not, but maybe worth checking your battery.

Thanks anyway, but new battery 2 months ago, dealer thinks a sensor rather than a fault, fingers crossed.
