A couple of times lately the car has come up with multiple faults scrolling on the screen ranging from PSM fail to start stop not working. It normally clears by the usual switch off switch it on again. Today was different I had 7 failure warnings and limp mode which wouldn't clear. I got the car home and have started it a few times and now only have a check engine light. My suspicion is that the battery has had it the voltage reading on the stumps under the bonnet is 11.69v. The car has only done 4K miles per year for the last 4 years. The alternator is pumping over 14v in. I think it is the original battery.
Before I get fleeced by the OPC could this be the answer to my problem?

Yes - That'll most probably be it; Either way the battery has essentially had it at 11.7v.

Voltage drop on startup will trip the various ECUs and Modules, hence the Christmas tree dash. - If the battery is bad enough, you may find you're getting errors before you've even cranked.

If you have a trickle charger you could try reviving it, but for the cost of a new battery and with the age considered, I'd say you're better off splashing out. Personally, I'd suggest getting an AGM even if the car doesn't require a stop start / fancy battery, as in my experience they last much better than EFB / Regular flooded batteries.

Thanks for that. I think its been on it's way out for a long time as prior to Covid I worked mainly abroad for 3 years and it threw one or two low battery warnings. I may just change it myself as the OPC have not rung back as they promised to do 3 hours ago.

As above, you certainly need a new battery so change that & see where that leaves you.

A good battery should have 12.6 volts & every 0.1 v under that is a loss of around 20% of its charge, so 11.7 is flatter than a flat thing.

New AGM battery arriving tomorrow. Had to nip out today and it started with no errors. I think its defiantly the battery.
