Hi ,I have just purchased the above car and while I was looking in the owners handbook I noticed that for the KC10 engine that it was recommended that both plugs and air filter were carried out by a Suzuki dealer,I have always serviced my cars so I have tried looking in to why a air filter and plugs would need special procedures and tools on this engine and to be honest I can't find any reason why as I have taken the engine cover off and it looks like you have to take the air filter box off to gain full, access to all 3 plugs, coils are one nut holding it on ..All I can think off is the fact that the air filter box as to come out but that's just 2 nuts and a couple of jubilee clips ..Any information on this from anyone who as done any servicing on this car would be appreciated thanks

Don’t know for sure but one of the reasons I like Suzuki products is the ease of working on them. Everything is usually logical and well thought out.

I very much doubt any special tools are need for routine stuff.

They recommend it is done by a dealer so that a dealer gets the business and also to avoid any issues after ham fisted owner fks up the car.
I doubt it is anything to do with special tools or even any real technical difficulty.

Thanks for the replies, i have owned diesels for the last 20 years so first time having spark plugs in my service routine, however i have had a quick look and all i can see is 2bolts and 2 intake pipes to take the air filter box off,one so you can change the filter as its fitted in from the rear and 2 to get to the plugs,my plugs are 16mm and i have a thin wall socket with extension...I just thought for some reason things have changed since i last removed plugs but it looks straight forward .

The plugs will be iridium and good for at least double the mileage it says in the book.

I changed the plugs on the previous n/a swift sport at 45k and they still looked unused.

You can change both. I have done my daughters 2017 boosterjet. Air filter is easy ish. I found putting the filter into the cover & not into it's final place allowed me to fit it, as you have to locate a tab on the bottom of the cover blind.

Plugs are not too bad either, changed then for Denso plugs as they were cheaper than NGK's. Two bolts & two tabs from memory.
