Fit power steering to Austin J2 van

Will sound stupid but would a bigger steering wheel fit?
Also, caster angle has a big effect in steering effort, could that be adjusted at all?

The steering wheel is already massive, at least by modern standards. Even when the vans were new they had notoriously heavy steering. I will see how much Easy Steer quote and go from there.
Cheers.
Thank you for further replies.
Dogwatch, I hadn’t given the stresses involved with adding P/S. The business link offered to me earlier in this thread have told me that they have not yet fitted a unit to ‘my van’ and I would need to leave it with them to decided and fit unit. The chap didn’t appear to sound phased at the prospect, but something I need to be assured will be OK.

Adding to the SturdyHSV post about using the London eye as a steering wheel
Take a look at this

The following is included in the above link
Lighter steering than the J2 will be a feature of the new design due to the use of a steering box with a 17 to 1 ratio instead of 13 to 1
Wondering if it's possible for you to find someone that is able to change the ratio of the steering box fitted to your van

An electric assist steering column(stereotypically from a Corsa) is the go-to for kitcar builders these days, although a van that ancient may have a steering box in which case swapping to a power assisted box from a landrover etc may be easier.
Another apparently easy-fit alternative is the one from the early Mk.7 Fiesta - you need a widget to do the CAN controller functions, but they're actually quite simple.Krikkit said:
