Which air hose, fittings and blow gun
Discussion
Hi,
I’ve just ordered a small air compressor but I know very little about the fittings I need. I want to use it for blowing up tires and blowing away dust and debris; here is what I ordered.
It says it has a has a Euro quick release fitting and a Q&A on the item revealed I might need
this fitting.
I’m assuming I’ll need a hose with 1/4 fittings but I’m not sure exactly which one; do these come in standard diametres? Also a few of the blower guns I see have way more capacity (270 L/m) compared to my compressor (120 L/min), is this just a max rating for the gun?
Many thanks.

Buy packet of male and female as you will always need the one you haven’t got otherwise. If you’re starting from new then you could go euro coupling for everything. Yes the hose is standard size, there are 8 and 10mm diameter but the fitting in the end is the same, Yes it will be fine with that blower it just means it won’t blow out as much as if you had more powerful compressor! Many air tools come with no connector ie bare so you need a few fittings on hand and quick release coupling too. And that white ptfe plumbers tape is handy for the threads.

Fit the the quick release coupling to the end of the hose. Fit a male coupling, as you linked to, on the tool. So that’s how you plug them together. All tools have the male coupling sticking out. Pvc hose (often transparent with webbing inside) as opposed to rubber is lighter for moving around.

Hoses come in a few different diameters, generally a larger hose has a bit more flow, even if the end fitting is the same 1/4" pipe thread.
For just a blow gun or inflating tyres, I wouldn't worry about it, just a small bore recoil hose will be fine and convenient.
Get in the habit of opening the drain tap on your compressor tank regularly to drain the water that it'll accumulate from the air.
