What is the correct way to dispose of bluecol type antifreeze? The local recycling centre seems to only do used engine oil so how do you get rid of old antifreeze?

Take it to your local garage and ask if they’ll take it. Offer a fiver and I’m sure they will. They normally have waste antifreeze drums.

Storm drain smile

I usually collect all drained fluids into spare old jugs until I've got a large quantity, then take it to the tip. You make some interesting soups along the way.

Wait until it's dark then dump it in the storm drain outside your most disliked neighbours house

Last three experiences at my local tip over probably 2-3 years-

1. “Put it over there in the chemical basket but only if it’s in an approved container, as in, one it would have been supplied in.” (Correct answer)

2. “Chuck it in with the oil mate.” I momentarily paused at this given the gigantic sign instructing not to but I realised my hesitancy was aggravating the tip nazi so did as he said.

3. “We don’t take it mate” pauses for 10 secs or so without even glancing my way then “ put it on the floor over there”

They wonder why folks chuck it in the river?

Or for (1) - Non-approved container but with a written label saying what it is.

This is what the guy said to do at my local tip anyway.

That's what I did. Must have been 10yrs worth of previous owners'/garage service 'top ups' in there. Very strange colour.
(All for want of a replacement pressure cap).

I take everything to the recycling tip now. The huge barbel in my local river are thriving now more people are becoming eco aware. Years ago the river was so polluted it didn't have salmon, it does now :-)

There's no excuse not to recycle in my area, it's just easy to do.
