So my car (Peugeot 3008 2015 model) recently had issues with the semi-automatic gearbox in that it wouldn't engage any gears. After being recovered and many calls to specialists I was finally able to get it in with a chain garage near me. The work that was carried out was a replacement clutch, replacement concentric slave cylinder and a replacement fly wheel. Work was done and I collected a couple of days later and it worked fine. Over the next 2 weeks or so I noticed some rattling coming from under my car and so booked it in with my local garage for today. They rang me after about an hour to say that lots of the screws, nuts and bolts that connect the sub-frame and exhaust and possibly engine mount are either missing or have just been put in my hand and not tightened. My local mechanic told me it basically makes the car a deathtrap and says I'm lucky the car didn't fall to pieces while driving and potentially cause a very serious crash. He sent me some photos which I will attach and I forwarded these onto the garage that did the clutch replacement and he's trying to downplay how serious this is. He is collecting the car on a truck and doing the necessary repairs FOC but I was after opinions on how dangerous this actually was. If it is as bad as my local man says I intend to take the matter further once the repairs have been done and I have collected and checked it again.

Many thanks for looking and I would appreciate any opinions some more mechanically minded folk may have.

First pic looks like an exhaust hanger, nothing structural there. Last pics are just trim, again nothing structural. Not dismissing either of these as I'd be properly pissed off to receive a car back like this, but they'd be unlikely to be dangerous.

The centre two pics might be more concerning but it's not immediately obvious what those bolts are attaching, is it the rear subframe mounting points or are they some kind of braces?

almost looks like someone went home at night planning to finish it next day and then someone else said it was done and handed it back

no wonder the motor trade gets such a slating , someone will be along shortly to justify why its £100 p/h

So from what my normal mechanic told me the bolts connecting the sub-frame were either not in at all or just kind of put in by hand and not tightened. Not really sure as I really have no clue about cars.

Chain workshops not always the best choice but you were apparently stuck getting it done at all.

As above someone's cleared off home or forgotten completely, these things shouldn't, but do happen, particularly worrying are the subframe mounting bolts in by a thread or two, i suspect all the subframe and other mounting bolts were put in finger tight whilst things were lined up then simply forgotten when the fitter went round tightening up.

So long as the job is put right and stays right i'd be inclined to put it down to experience and resolve never to darken their doorstep again, not sure what you expect to gain from whatever action you intend to take afterwards, what if the problem or a similar problem arises under any warranty period you may have with this work.
