The big question is what happened to the battery to get it into that state? Because lead is so heavy the battery can easily suffer internal damage if it's been dropped.

I'd want a high current drain test done before sticking it in a car. That'll soon show up any weaknesses.

As regards the terminal itself - not a problem so long as you can tidy it up enough to get a secure connection.

Where's the damage? That tiny mark on the terminal is from something clamping it. Nothing to see here

Clean it till you get down to shiny lead, and it'll be fine. Plenty of surface/contact area left.

New with that amount of crud on top of it?

Nothing wrong with using it with that Minor damage however

2 years old sat in a shed is not the same as new.

Has it been checked for charge, has it been charged?

I agree with that^^ much more than I do the people who instead suggest we don’t need to know how anything on the car actually works, so long as you obsess over micro scratches.

A battery sat for that long could easily be suffering issues with stratification or sulphation. If your battery charger has a repair (Noco) or recond (CTEK) mode on it, then use that once it has finished charging to make sure you get the most out of it.
guide - CTEK battery recond mode

Indeed!

Post looks ok, not sure I would have filed any material off it.

It has two chances, might be fine, might be toast.
