I'm aware of the large, commercial scissor lifts that lift a car like a 4 post, so on the wheels not the jacking points, but are there home versions?
A bit like the mid height scissors that also lift on the jacking points, strongman, automotech etc but where the ramps are longer so lift the car on the wheels?

Surface mount, not recessed and closer to £1500 than £4k
I haven't seen one and so there may be a reason.

These seem to be higher weight rated which in turn makes them far more expensive. The product is exactly the correct but I hoped there might be one in the price range of the "standard" scissor lifts.

I doubt one exists; the greater mass/strength needed for dealing with the loads from a full length lift platform mean all other components are necessarily heavier and more expensive. There are lower cost 4 posters, not £1500 but a lot less than £4k.

That is /was my suspicion. It doesn't seem that the ramps would need to be that much longer to reach the wheels, some have extentions for LWB cars anyway, but I suppose it means the base needs to be 8"+ longer and beefier etc hence more pricey.
Ah well.

For that type of price you'll be best looking for a s/h one. Lots of garage chains use them as alignment ramps, you do see them pop up for sale frequently.

This Moggy is being lifted by its front arms and its rear axle. Wouldn't want to lift it by its sills. (It will go much higher)

Lift cost me £1100 including swopping the far eastern hose for Euro CE hose.

I'm in the market for a scissor-lift like this, safety and quality more of a priority than price. Weight up to about 1500kg, that allows me to drop the suspension (ie lift on the sill jacking points or chassis members and work up the middle of the car (I need to replace brake and fuel pipes). Must work with 240v and not preferably not need garage floor reconcreting etc. I've done a lot of Googling but some of the products out there look a bit home-spun and I don't want to get squashed (already had slightly terrifying near-miss in my younger years). Anybody got any recommendations?

Mid rise mobile car scissor lift purchased for my Caterham. Shame price has risen from the £1250 I paid in Feb '21! Been faultless so far....
