Cooling system clean

I’m restoring an Mx5 and the cooling system is a little rusty coloured, I added a bottle of the wynns system cleaner on the weekend and it seemed to work ok.
Are there any home made remedies I could try to do a couple of flushes rather than spending on the Halfords offerings?
Maybe it’s better to just flush a few times with clean water and refill with anti freeze as you will never get rid of it all.

Lemon juice and white vinigar is supposed to be okay fo4r removing light rust from the system never tried it myself
