Steering wheel refurb
Discussion
I'm trying to track down the people used in a couple of TV series for steering wheel refurbishment / recovering. I seem to remember one episode (or perhaps more than one) of Car SOS where Tim knows an older guy who's been recovering steering wheels for yonks, turns up to his place in the dead of night and plays a trick on the guy to get him working on recovering the wheel while Tim cooks breakfast. I think he ends up cooking a burger or bacon, drops in on the floor but still serves it to the guy. Can anyone point me in the direction of the wheel refurbisher?
The other one is from Wheeler Dealers when it was still being filmed in the UK and Mike goes to a restorer that I seem to remember runs his business from home in a summer house / garden room. Can anyone point me in the direction of this guy too?
Thanks!

Yep, I'm on the M3 Cutters forum and they seem to swear by Royals for any of the M car steering wheel refurbs. I'm actually looking to have an early 70s Momo wheel recovered in something approximating period leather. Hence looking for the guys featured on these TV programmes as they will likely be more familiar with the type of leather and finish I'm after.

A mate used this place for the headlining in his 944. They specialise in older VW's, so are used to working with classics.

This. They did a great job on my 911 wheel.
Yep I know they do a good job. I have a MOMO Ronnie Peterson I need recovering in something close to period leather where the grain is far less prominent than the modern wheels. My leather E46 M3 CSL steering wheel has a lovely grain (yes, I swapped it from the alcantara) but it's too modern a finish for the mid-70 Peterson wheel.constellation said:

I went the other way, worn leather to Alcantara.Gassing Station | Home Mechanics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
