Have a couple of corroded pipes in an AC system, they result in pressure loss over about 6-8 weeks of system charge (i.e. they're slow) - they can be replaced, but the cost is insane (>£500 for the pipes alone, plus very tricky fitting).

The area where the pipes have corroded is easily accessed, is there something they can be painted with? I'd usually just say sand, etch primer, top coat acrylic.

Aluminium oxide just turns to powder, any attempt at working on them will almost certainly result in a full blow out.

You could always try one of the hose fix places & get them to make up a hose the right length.

Perhaps this is what is meant by a hosefix place, but can the corroded length be chopped out and replaced instead of the whole pipe?

Looks like compression fittings and crimp-down o-ring fittings exist for refrigeration purposes so presumably the repair doesn't have to be brazed.
