Anyone got a recommendation? It's for an R53 Mini Cooper S mainly.

No suggestions? It's for an airbag fault initially which it looks like the cheap ones won't do, so I'm looking at an Autel ML629...

Have a look on amazon for some topdon deals.

Something like this would probably do the trick:

I bought an icarsoft cr pro for around £200 and it’s been very good.
Depends how much you want to spend.

Cheers, I ordered the Autel. Will see how I get on as it's (hopefully) a temporary car and I have a Land Rover specific one already.

Having had several BMs & Minis, these are pretty good for most run of the mill faults/resets.

I bought the one below from Amazon to detect an ABS error on my 2016 Countryman.
Great bit of kit.

I have a reader like the one recommended by keeling54. It doesn't work on my Transit van (Mk6) and I've read elsewhere about special software being needed on Fords to read their OBDs. Izzat so?

I don't know about Transits, but certainly on my wife's 2013 Fiesta there are two CAN buses through which the multitude of modules fitted can be interrogated. One of these buses is standardised through OBD but the other is proprietary to Ford, and is also on non-standard pins, and so needs a 'special' OBD reader to access it. I bought such a reader from Tunnelrat Electronics (a bluetooth one which doesn't seem to be available anymore, but they do have wifi and USB ones) and the Forscan software and they both work really well.
